Unsealing Emptiness

Chapter 121

Although he felt nothing about their death, Ozul decided not to disrespect the dead bodies of the drakes. This was only because of how the male drake showed completely different emotions than any other beast would have had.

Raven and Blaze complied. They just thought that Ozul did not want the body parts to be damaged because they were valuable.

Raven materialized her daggers to make a small incision at the chest of the drake. Just then, when she turned to look at her side, she saw Blaze standing there with a large ice blade floating by his side.

“What?” Blaze asked when he saw her looking at him like he was some sort of an idiot.

“Uh... Blaze, I think Raven is best suited for this task,” said Ozul to Blaze before Raven could even start her lecture on how dumb he was again.

“Eh? But I can do that too! I have learned how to take the core out without making a mess! Really!” Blaze desperately defended himself.

.....

When Ozul heard his words, he swept his eyes at the giant ice blade, which looked like a drill used to mine before he again looked at Blaze and said, “No.”

“Aw. But can I just-”

“No.”

“Not even-”

“No.”

“Okay...”

Ozul did not even let him speak before rejecting him with a straight face. At last, Blaze sighed, and the large blade or the drill made of ice disappeared.

Raven smirked at the misery of Blaze, who had already gone into the corner, drawing circles on the ground.

Ignoring Blaze, Ozul gave a look towards Raven, and the latter was forced to focus on her job.

In just a few seconds, Raven efficiently took out the two cores from the corpses of the drakes. Ozul noticed the state of the dead bodies and nodded his head.

“Good job,” praised Ozul before shifting his eyes at the two fist-sized mana cores in Raven’s hands. Meanwhile, Raven beamed with happiness after being praised and shot a smug look towards Blaze again.

Usually, the mana cores are larger in the Beasts compared to the Mages. However, even rank 8 Beasts would not have mana cores this big!

But the people who saw the cores were not surprised. They had already read about them, and they knew that they were abnormally big in size. Nevertheless, they were still mesmerized when they looked at those crystal balls.

The mercenaries all stood with greed visible in their eyes. Even Clive had to control himself from staring at those mana cores for too long.

Brud stood beside Barry with his fists clenched in jealousy. In his mind, one of the mana cores should have been theirs, but now the kid who he had thought to be a nobody.

“Hey! Shouldn’t that one core belong to us!? Boss Barry was the one who hit the drake first! If it wasn’t for him, this pretty face wouldn’t have been able to kill it in the first place!” Not being able to hold himself anymore, Brud suddenly exclaimed while looking at Clive.

It seemed that he wanted Clive to do justice for them and give one of the cores to their party as he pointed his finger at the cores.

Brud was expecting the mercenaries to support him, but as he looked around, all he got was people whispering in their ears while some laughed at him.

When Brud turned to Clive, he noticed that the latter was not only glaring at him, but his face also darkened by the minute.

It seemed that Brud didn’t even think that all this was their leader, Barry’s, fault that Clara had just been in danger. And if something had happened to her, the consequences would not have been light.

Moreover, he totally did not take this point into account that Ozul had effortlessly killed both the drakes while they were struggling even to hit them once.

Just as Clive was about to burst in anger, Sir Hanry came in from the back together with Clara and Venessa.

“Brat! You do know that it was your leader who caused all of this mess, right!?” Hanry pointed his finger at the group of mercenaries who were barely alive after the attack from the female drake.

Only at this point did Brud turn to look around him and noticed the chaos that had ensued due to one single mistake of his leader.

“Fortunately, Young Miss is fine. Otherwise...” Hanry left his words hanging, but the meaning was clear.

The only reason that they wouldn’t take any serious action was that only the mercenaries had received the damage because of their mistake.

But it also did not mean that everything was fine after Clara was confirmed to be unharmed. Instead, they were furious at Barry that he had caused her to be so close to danger.

Even when they still had some defensive mechanisms like Venessa had created the water shield, it was best to be on the safe side. What if the drake’s spell was also abnormally powerful?

“We will talk about this later,” Clive said to Barry who stood there silently, looking at the ground with a gloomy face. However, he still nodded his head to show that he was listening after he heard Clive.

Barry realized what he had done wrong, but there was no solution for him to get out of this predicament. Everyone was aware of how dangerous the situation had turned because of his stupid decision.

Brud also shut up and did not say anything further when he noticed the angry look on Barry’s face. It seemed that he would also not be able to escape from the hellish punishment that awaited him.

“Uhm...” Suddenly when everyone had quietened down, they heard the soft voice coming from behind Hanry.

Everyone turned to look in the direction while Hanry also made way.

After Hanry got out of the way, they noticed that it was the silver-haired lady they were escorting, who had spoken.

Ignoring everyone’s stares, she made her way to the middle and arrived before Ozul.

“Uh, hello! I am Clara!” Even she herself did not understand how she gained sudden confidence as she introduced herself.

Before she would start daydreaming whenever even his name was mentioned, however, after so many flattering comments from others, she began to think that there must not be any man who wouldn’t want to talk with her.

“I am Ozul.” Ozul did not reply to her greeting but just said his name.

“Ah! Such a good name-”

“Yes, I know. Now I have work to do if you excuse me...” Without waiting for her reply, Ozul turned around and went near the corpses.

His attitude left everyone stunned on the scene. Their eyes twitched as they cursed him in their minds, ‘Tch! Bastard! How dare he!?’

Clara was also stupefied that Ozul had so hurriedly walked off, avoiding her as if she was some sort of plague.

Unknown to her, Ozul did not like one bit when she was close to him since she just reeked of the Light Element.

Though it wasn’t so bad that Ozul would have to run away whenever she came near him. It was still bearable, but why would he endure when he had the choice not to?

“Ah! Young miss, come here. I need to thoroughly check if there are any injuries or not.” Venessa noticed the atmosphere and to break the ice, she randomly made up an excuse and took Clara out of there.

‘Who does that man think he is!? I don’t know why Young miss even tries to thank him anymore. Sigh... He clearly does not want to talk with her,’ Venessa cursed Ozul in her mind before she internally sighed.
