Extreme Flame Wizard

Chapter 20: A Guy Friend and the Wizard

“Igni!”

The ocean! We’re at the ocean!

The girls in swimsuits are calling Igni’s name.

“Hey! Igni is going to play with me!”

“What?! Whatever! He’s playing with me!”

“What are you guys talking about?! Igni’s coming with me to play!”

Oh, better stop them from fighting.

Let’s stop this with one cool, swift comment.

Igni let out an audible, exaggerated breath and shrugged his shoulders.

Igni: “It’s simple girls. Let’s all 3 play together.”

And Igni could not resist letting a huge smile surface as he said this but...

“What are you talking about?! I’m No. 1!”

One of the more prouder, demanding girls picked up Igni and held him close.

“Elina! Let go of Sir Igni or I’ll crush you!”

“HAHAHA!! Let’s just see you try!! I’m No.1!”

“Die! [EARTH TETRA - SPIRAL TORQUENT]!”

The ground twisted and with the command from the servant-like girl, the beach sand turned into a spiraling spear and tried to pierce Elina!

GAKIN!! (sfx metal clashing)

Elina pulled out a sword from nowhere and blocked the attack.

“Hey! Stop that fighting right now!”

“Be quiet, Alicia! I’m tired of you always looking down on us!! I’ll crush you too!”

“It’s no use, Iris. I’m much stronger than you are.”

“My compatibility is higher!”

Leaving Elina alone, Alicia and Iris begin to fight.

“That looks fun~! Let me in on the action!”

“M-Miss Student Body President?!”

“Me too.”

“Miss Miko…?!”

Alicia rides on her broom while blasting multiple [WIND] magic.

On the ground, Iris was struggling to find ways to block it with her spells.

“Igni”

“Whoa?! Erumi—?!?!”

“Again, hit me again ♥“

“W-Wait… here…?!”

While everyone else is watching?!

“Just shoot me. See? Shoot me ♥”

“Hm? What are you saying? Igni, I’m No. 1, right?”

Igni is surrounded two of which words have little to no meaning and he cries out.

Igni: “AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”

He wondered as he screamed, was this really the world he desired?

[IGNI! WE’RE GONNA BE LATE!!]

Igni: “...............!!”

Igni awoke.

Igni: “......Oh my gosh….it….it was just a dream…….”

Yoori: “You were tossing and turning in your sleep. Are you okay?”

Igni: “......dream…..it was a dream but…..it wasn’t….a dream…...maybe?”

Yoori: “Are you really okay?”

Igni steps off of his bed.

Igni: “......I’m….okay. Yes, I’m okay…..”

Igni: (Wait… can I honestly say that I am popular with the ladies now…?)

Igni re-examines his current situation.

Igni: “No, I still have a long way to go.”

His brain decided to reject all understanding and reasoning.

Yoori: “What’s wrong, Igni?”

Igni: “It’s nothing. Let’s go to school.”

Early in the morning, the two leave the dorms.

They are arriving at school much earlier than usual.

It’s because Yoori wanted Igni’s help with his combat training.

Yoori: “But this was really unexpected. I didn’t think you would really help me train this early in the morning.”

Igni: “It’s a request from a friend. Of course I’ll keep my end of the bargain.”

Yoori: “.....friend. Yeah, I guess you’re right! Because we are friends now.”

Yoori says this and his cheeks redden.

Igni: (Why is it always like this…?)

As they walk down an emptier path than usual, they arrive at the school and head straight to the practice field.

The Rolmod Wizard Academy operates 24/7, and a faculty or someone is always at the school doing spell training, research, and development actively all year-round. Of course, <MA•GIC> research too. Because of that, the practice fields for battles and spells are open to the students 24/7, and those who put in the time continuously develop their skills without hindrances.

Yoori: “Igni, go easy on me.”

Igni: “Of course.”

Yoori is not a combat Wizard.

Igni: “But Yoori, is this really okay? Fighting me and all?”

Yoori: “Um… yeah. I’m a support-type Wizard, but I do need to be able to fight if the situation comes up.”

Igni: “That’s a good mentality to have.”

Yoori: “Oh, th-thanks.”

Igni: (So why do you blush…..?!)

Yoori: “Here I come, Igni.”

Igni: “Bring it.”

A black mist surrounds Yoori and wraps around his body.

Yoori: “UAAAGGGHH!”

Yoori kicks the ground hard.

DON! (*sfx)

The dirt beneath Yoori’s feet explode backwards as he approaches Igni with incredible speed, but Igni takes two steps to the right to dodge.

Yoori: “It’s not over!”

Yoori kicks the ground beneath again to forcefully change his direction.

Yoori again springs toward Igni.

Yoori: “UWAAAAHHH!!”

Yoori is coming towards Igni swinging his fists wildly, but Igni dodges again and jumps into the air.

Igni: “[FLAME ARMOR - IGNITE]”

He pours magic into the [FIREBALL] he created.

Igni: “[LAUNCH - FIRE]”

DON!!! (*sfx)

The [FIREBALL] explodes in a way to push Yoori off to the side. When the wind from the impact calms down., all the black mist that was surrounding Yoori is gone.

Yoori: “Ughhhhh….I surrender…”

Igni was going easy, but the match ended just as quickly.

Igni: “...I don’t think close range combat is your thing.”

Yoori: “Do you think so too, Igni?”

Igni: “.....I hate to say this, but...your fundamentals are too lacking at this point.”

Yoori: “Oh….yeah, I know.”

Yoori is a [DARK] type Wizard.

Out of all the Wizards, the [DARK] type spells have not been systematically categorized and organized, so in general, people are only aware of [SHADOW BALL] and [SHADOW LANCE] as the only spells for [DARK] Wizards.

For [DARK] Wizards, they must come up with their own spells from scratch.

Among that, what Yoori is good at is to make and use this black mist for support type spells.

He can block the enemy’s view, he can wrap it around his body to increase his physical strength, he can use it to stop bleeding, and it has a lot of uses for it in general, but because of that, it also lacks in power and strength.

Yoori: “I wish I could make a [SHADOW BALL] the same way you make your [FIREBALL], Igni.”

And just to try it out, Igni explained to Yoori how Igni creates his [FIREBALL] in very detailed terms, but when Yoori tried it, he completely <LA•CK•ED MA•GIC POW•ER> and had to give up.

Igni: “Yoori, instead of trying to figure out something new every time, you should think about how to use what you already have to its fullest potential.”

Yoori: “....thanks, Igni.”

Igni: “For example…yeah. If you put a [SHADOW BALL] right behind a [SHADOW LANCE] and put them together and fire off the spell.”

Yoori: “O-okay…?”

Igni: “And if you make the [SHADOW BALL] explode, the [SHADOW LANCE] will suddenly accelerate right before it hits the enemy.”

Yoori: “.....!! Wait, that’s…!!”

Igni: “That’s the spell I used when I broke the ‘Target’. If you use this, even if you can use only one spell, you can increase the potency and power of that one spell.”

As soon as Igni was done speaking, the gates of the practice field flung open with a BANG!

“The spell that broke the ‘Target’?!”

Igni: “E…..ERUMI?!”

Erumi: “Igni! Please! Just once! Just once more!”

And because of the super-masochist’s entrance, Yoori’s training was postponed.
